DuPage River Fall Cleanup

On Saturday, October 22nd, members of the GRWA team gathered in Winfield to prepare for our 10th trash sweep of the West Branch DuPage River. Since 2016, we have teamed up with The Conservation Foundation and DuPage County to adopt a section of the river that flows through West DuPage Forest Preserve. Over the years we have collected hundreds of pounds of trash and debris including sporting equipment, food receptacles, clothing, children’s toys, and automotive parts.

This season we had 15 volunteers, which has been our largest group since our journey began. Despite low water levels, we were able to cover new sections of the river although sections had to be traversed on foot. Afterwards, we celebrated with drinks and food at a local brewery to celebrate a job well done.
